Domestic abuse, also called “domestic violence” or “intimate partner violence”, can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, faith, or class. Content includes DAIS services, barriers to leaving a relationship, how to support someone who is victimized by intimate partner violence, and how someone might find themselves in an abusive relationship. Presentation by Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS). DAIS serves Dane County, helping provide a safer, more just, more equitable place for people who have experienced domestic violence, their children, and the people who love them. DAIS offers a wide array of crisis intervention and community education/prevention programs, including a 24-hour Help Line, programming for children from violent homes, legal advocacy, support groups, and emergency safety planning. DAIS is also the only domestic violence shelter in all of Dane County. This event is held virtually in Teams — please contact a member of the EID Committee if you need an invitation.
