Hobbies & DIYs — Community Committee Mixer Round-up

Thanks to those who were able to join the January 2022 Business Services Community Committee (BSCC) mixers focused on hobbies and DIY (“Do It Yourself”) projects! We learned about some cool hobbies and DIY projects different Business Services employees work on in their non-work hours. A few folks shared details about their hobbies/projects–images can be found below descriptions (click images to enlarge):
  • Gian Compuesto plays jazz guitar in a band called Christo’s Novelty Combo. “Hot Hawaiian guitar meets Jazz à la Django!” Maybe you’ll catch the musical trio playing around the area!
  • Matthew Hanson finds, restores, and resells vintage gun cases — creating some real beauties!
  • Megan Williams is a crafter extraordinaire, making some beautiful ornaments, paper quilling, and embroidery work.
  • Carolyn Wolff dabbles in bread making (thank TikTok for the bread turkey and wreath trends) and ornament making (alcohol ink and fabric scraps).
A promotional photo for Christo's Novelty Combo (band) -- Gian Compuesto on the left with a jazz guitar, Forrest Evans in the center, and Christo Ruppenthal on the right. A series of images showing the restoration process and finish work of Matt Handon's vintage gun case restoration work. Examples of Megan William's holiday crafts, including a display of ornaments, a paper quilling project, and Christmas and winter-themed embroidery. Examples of ornaments and bread projects Carolyn Wolff has worked on. Bread is shaped like a wreath in one picture and roast turkey in another. Ornaments decorated in a watercolor pattern and a patchwork fabric look. Thank you to BSCC for organizing this mixer event. Stay tuned for more BSCC Mixer events to come this spring!
