2024 Lunch and Learn: Pride Month with the GSCC

This event has passed.

Commemorated each year in the month of June, LGBTQ+ Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City. In June of 1969, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn staged an uprising to resist the police harassment and persecution to which LGBTQ+ Americans were commonly subjected. This uprising marked the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against LGBTQ+ Americans. Today, LGBTQ+ Pride Month celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, and concerts, attracting millions of participants around the world. Pride Month in June is a time to uplift and support the LGBTQ+ community, affirm our identities, reflect on the inequities of the past and present, and take meaningful action to create change. In 2024, everyone deserves to bring their authentic self to work, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender expression. This year, the EID Committee and Gender & Sexuality Campus Center will be hosting a virtual Lunch and Learn opportunity focusing on the topic of PRIDE. This free Lunch and Learn will be a beginner’s guide to the LGBTQ+ community. Prepare your lunch and join the talk by Katherine Briggs, GSCC Assistant Director. When: Tuesday, June 4th from 12-1pm. Where: Anywhere, because it’s virtual! Zoom Link: go.wisc.edu/DOBSpride All are welcome, and we hope to see you there!
