Lunch and Learn – TEDx Talk “Disabling Ableism”

This event has passed.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), in which we “celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcase supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit employers and employees.” The theme this year is “Advancing Access and Equity.”  In honor of advancing access and increasing equity, the Engagement, Inclusion and Diversity Committee presents a virtual Lunch and Learn featuring speaker Alycia Anderson on the subject of “Disabling Ableism”. Together, we will explore:
  • What ableism is
  • Why ableism is problematic
  • How we can move forward together, advancing equity, and decentering ableist perspectives
Alycia Anderson has a powerful story to tell, and we are excited to share it with you. We will spend the first half of our time together watching Alycia’s TED talk, and the second half will consist of discussion, chats, and poll questions to deepen our own learning and contribute to each other’s learning. Please contact a member of the EID Committee if you need a Team invite.
