For the past five years, Business Services has hosted People Program interns for five weeks during the summer. The interns are high school students who have just completed their junior year and are interested in learning about careers in business. This week would have ordinarily marked the mid-point in our time with the interns.
While there are no internships this summer, the pandemic did not stop the PEOPLE Program. Their staff assembled a series of virtual learning opportunities to replace internships, and we were invited to participate.
On July 13, 2020, Dan Langer and a panel of five employees from Business Services joined a Teams meeting to talk with 24 People Program students. Showcasing a variety of career paths within business, our panel consisted of:
- Gwen Ezell, Risk Management and Insurance
- Gian Compuesto, Accounting
- Graig Brooks, Accounting
- Brian Klinger, Supply Chain Management
- Bradley Thomas, Marketing and Web Development
Panelists shared their educational and professional experiences, their life lessons, and their advice. They answered questions from the students, and they radiated Badger spirit like nobody’s business! Partnering with the PEOPLE Program has always been a positive learning experience. In that regard, this year was no different. It was an informative and fun session. Thank you to Dan and our panelists. If you would like to see their bios shared with the students, click here (PDF). The recorded session is available to view here.
